4 city break photo challenges
Setting yourself a photo project to complete while on a holiday can be a fantastic way of focusing your creativity, particularly in busy destinations where it would be easy to become overwhelmed by subjects. So don’t forget to pack your FUJIFILM X-T100 (the perfect travel companion) and check out some of our favourites…
Capture a colour
Pick a colour and look for it amongst the hubbub of the city. With this clear focus in mind you’ll be amazed at the interesting subjects that will present themselves, which previously you may have overlooked. Try choosing a different colour for each day of your trip, enabling you to really colour coordinate your social media feeds.
Photograph the alphabet
Starting at A and finishing at Z, try to find subjects that seem to resemble a letter in the alphabet and capture them. Keep a look out for angles formed by several architectural lines, an unusual door handle, the curves of a bike rack, and so on. Once you’ve completed the challenge, and have a photo for every letter, place them all in a creative collage. Tip: if you’re struggling, letters found in interesting typography are a good backup.
The 24-hour S.N.A.P challenge
If you’re looking to capture a variety of photos in a short space of time, try challenging yourself to complete the S.N.A.P challenge in your chosen city within 24 hours. This acronym stands for Street, Night-time, Architecture and Portrait, and the aim is to take a photo that you’re proud of for each of the four themes. By the time you’ve completed the challenge, you’ll have built up a diverse set of shots that will have encouraged you to explore your location.
50 shots in 50 meters
Choose a starting point and set off walking, trying to take one image with each meter that you cover. At first it may seem impossible to take different images in almost the same spot, but as your imagination, photography skills and creativity are pushed to their limits, you may be surprised at the masterpieces you manage to produce.
Share your world with Fujifilm
Utilising unique colour science technology developed over the past 80 years and the largest system of dedicated APS-C lenses, the FUJIFILM X Series helps you to spend more time shooting and less time fixing your images afterwards.
